@liweng: I totally disagree that link exchange is a dead technique if you do it right. One very good one that I used is natural link exchange in which you agree with another blogger to make a paragraph change on each other's posts with your chosen keywords you are ranking. There are just too many things that you can do with link exchange.

Hey Peter, I've heard that link exchange is kind of a dead technique, since it's not efficient. I was under the impression that link exchange is only worthwhile if you can get backlinks from authority sites. What's your take on that?

I try to link only to at least PR1 site, only because it gives me some comfort that this blogger has been blogging for some time. It doesn't make much sense to link only to your own PR value knowing that there are now many bloggers who achieve PR3 in 1-3 months.
